Mr C Snell (Foundation Governor)
I first became associated with the school in 1990 when my son Stephen started in reception after attending the William Older playgroup. I joined the PTA and was elected chair of the PTA the same year.
Son and brother to a teacher and brother to a police officer, I had wanted to teach but that never happened. So I followed my oldest brother into the police service. I served 50 years in Sussex police.
When my son, Stephen was 6, I was elected a Parent Governor for 4 years, following which I was appointed a Foundation Governor. During over 20 years of service I’ve seen the school grow and thrive, accompanied Year 6 trips as cook, been involved in the recruitment of two Headteachers, held the position of Chair of Governors, and Chair of Finance Committee.
My grandchildren are now in reception and Year 1. I’m now retired and continue to serve as Foundation Governor. It is still an interesting and enjoyable role and I love seeing the children develop, grow and flourish under the care of a school with fantastic facilities and staff. I’m looking forward to spending more time is school hearing children read, taking a particular interest in Early Years Foundation Stage and Year 4, and in supporting the school’s development.
